Dutch Dare Card Challenge

Posted by Dianette "Jany" Seda en 31 julio 2008

I rotated it clockwise to fit my idea.

It is not every day that I can say that I feel good with what I come up with. This time I was late to work my card. This morning I woke up pretty late and went to my stash of images given in swaps and raks. I had forgotten I’ve colored a few of them and was feeling bad because I might not be doing my best. But this card is one of the best I’ve done in under 1 hour.

I had the image already colored and so, I choose the colors as per the colors of it (distressed with red ink). I went to my stash because I knew I didn’t have any TAC paper to match those colors that good. I feel in love with a piece of paper that looked like a mantel for a picnic and went to choose another color to contrast. I then remembered the beautiful handmade papers my mom gave me a while back that I haven’t used enough because I don’t want to finish them up (of course, I have about 1,000 papers of different colors and textures). I fell in love with a red piece. After I assembled my main matting I decided I did want to show off the red handmade paper. So I did my card 6″ X 7″ but I didn’t want it in white and my Ivory cs was letter sized. So I used a neutral cs from one of the CTMH paper sets. I know, not a good size for a card. I didn’t care. I wanted it that way, after all, I’ll hand give it.

When I looked at the sketch I needed to use I was thinking, “oh, what do I use? More red? I don’t want more greens in it. When I looked at my handmade papers I only had one shade of greens but it wouldn’t work out. Ohhhh but one of them was just perfect! An Ivory one with leaves. I knew they wouldn’t show up too much in my LO, but I wanted that paper used. Then I checked my brads. I needed 6 and I only had 5 of each color. No problem. I had two shades of green and I wouldn’t like to use red at all in the embellies. Well, I think it worked perfect! I did have many Ivory brads, but that might do my LO quite boring and I did have green in there, you know?

Once I finished it I thought it would be good to give to my BFF’s and took my pen to write. Her boyfriend is chef and the card would be perfect for them. I had seen cards decorated inside too, so I thought that I would use the green paper inside. I cut it 5.75″ X 6.75 but once I placed over the cardstock without the glue I didn’t like. I felt dissapointed that it was so boring. And after all my card is too big and it wouldn’t stand all the weight so I looked at my red paper. Ohhhh yes! I mated it. It’s making the inside strong and the paper to see vibrant and even if the paper is not as much appreciated inside, I know it is there. I just showed off both papers without over imposing my card.

Supplies:
Strawberry stamp (got it in a swap)
H2O’s Pencils
Handmade papers
Neutral Cardstock
Brads
Zip Dry Glue
Other Papers from my stach
Palette Moulin Rouge Ink
